Facebook Ads
First of all the exposure can be narrowed down far more than Google and this provides the ability to pay far less per click than in AdWords. Say you have a dating e-book you want to sell. You could list it to everybody and pick up over 100 million viewers. More people in this case is a bad thing though. It is better to have far less people but who are more willing to buy. Here you can say that you want the ad to appear to men between the ages of 18-25, are college students, live in a college town, and make say $18,000-$30,000 a year. If you list your book at a reasonable price these guys would be far more willing to buy as a whole group than spending money on clicks from people who are retired or happily married. As you can see this tool can extremely narrow down your customer base to those willing to buy which will will make your PPC campaigns far more profitable
Facebook/MySpace Groups
Groups are a popular way to get involved. Both MySpace and Facebook have groups that you can search for by using their search bar. Just type in any topic you are looking to market to and become actively involved. Some groups may be too large or small to market to. You also need to make sure they are actively in discussion. When you join do not spam them. It is good to form some relationships with the people there. I usually ask for personal opinions on sites I've worked on that relate to their topic. Some later do opt-in to my list by doing so. So provide great quality content like you would in an article and see how many people will be interested in what you have to offer.
Stumble Upon
Stumble Upon is a viewing site where you can submit your capture page to its members. This tactic works well when promoting a quality and easy to read capture page that has something worth while for the reader to want to opt-in. A popular tactic is to offer something free such as an e-book related to the topic, a newsletter on how to do something with it, or a small email course you can use to teach them something. Also use good capturing text to make them want to sign in and keep it simple. Grab their attention from the get-go and this can help you market later on through your list.
Twitter
Twitter can have the reputation of being over used and abused. The more people you have the harder it is to keep up with the posts. Having credibility here helps in capturing attention. The other route you can take here is to again find people in the search tab with the keyword you are searching. You can usually find someone in your niche. Follow ones with a good base of followers and you'll be surprised how many others will request to follow you. In doing so set up an autoresponse through twitter's options that give a quick description of you and perhaps a link to your site, capture page, etc. This can help build your contact list as well
YouTube
This is a whole new world because it's visual. The key here is to find a topic that is popular such as a recent sport event, tv show, popular topic or product, etc. Then post out to YouTube with a capturing title for your audience. There is video editing software out there to use if your budget permits. The nice thing here is you can build your audience again from following others, quality commenting on other people's videos, and following the trends. I have a friend who makes good money showing video game tactics for a particular game and puts his cloaked affiliate link in his info box related to a product that is about his game.
These five tactics do work if done properly and with quality content. You can do similar things with other social networking sites as you come across them.
I hope this has been of help to you and if you have questions my contact information is available in my blog. Feel free to leave a comment as I answer them every day Take care and the best to your future success.
